I love being creative, and when a cozy game allows me to express creativity, you can bet I’m going to play it. That’s exactly what Ourlands offers. I played the island creator during Steam Next Fest, and I’m excited to see what the full release will offer.

Even though Ourlands is pretty easy to pick up and play, I appreciated the tutorial walkthrough that the developer, Graham, included in the game. I’m presented with an open canvas, or rather, the open ocean. Here I can raise land to suit whatever my heart desires. If I want to make a beach, I can. If I want to build highlands, I can. If I want to leave an open space in the middle of my island, well, I can. I can also place items on my creation, ranging from trees and grasses to tents and houses. Some of the items are locked, and the game encourages me to interact with placed objects to unlock hidden ones. I can’t wait to see all the items that will be available in the full release.

When I feel like I have a nice layout for my island, there’s a postcard option where I can take a snapshot and share it. It’s a creative way to share islands on social media.

The art is so cute. It reminds me a bit of the style of Where’s Waldo? In fact, I can see myself creating hidden object pictures with the full release.
I’m looking forward to what Graham has in store for the game. Be sure to wishlist the game!
