Demon Tides Review: Waves of Fun | The Gamerheads Podcast
Demon Tides is a very fun platformer with charismatic characters and smooth movement. It’s the perfect spring or summer game to play just to get into the season and remind everyone to sit back and enjoy the waves sometime.

Baladins Review: A Board Game Inspired Gem | The Gamerheads Podcast
Baladins is a breath of fresh air. Its board game inspired playstyle, coupled with branching dialogue and open quests, allows me to explore and experience it at my own pace. Adding the ability to play with up to three other people makes it feel like I’m sitting around a board game with friends. The loop mechanic adds an interesting element, refreshing the board every six turns, but it never became troublesome, as the game offers plenty to explore and do.

Clue: Murder by Death Review: Cognitive Overload | The Gamerheads Podcast
Unfortunately, the experience wasn’t much fun for me. There’s a decent foundation here, but it’s weighed down by too many rooms to explore, too many suspects who start to blur together, and far too many objects to sift through. Combined with a poor map system, limited inventory space, slow character movement, unclear objectives, and noticeable input lag, the game quickly became frustrating.

Ella Stars Review: All Rhythm, Not Enough Story | The Gamerheads Podcast
I loved my time with Ella Stars. The music is fantastic, and the art is superb. It’s a fun, wholesome game that’s especially enjoyable when you want to unwind after a long day.
That said, I wish the level design leaned more heavily into the music itself, especially when it came to the bosses. It feels like a missed opportunity, to better connect the lyrics to the gameplay and use them to tell a story.

Streetdog BMX Review: A Solid Trick System That Doesn’t Quite Land on Both Wheels | The Gamerheads Podcast
The best part of Streetdog BMX is simply riding around and pulling off tricks for fun. Unfortunately, the game doesn’t really reward that kind of free riding. Instead, it relies on challenge areas, which require me to first locate them and then stay confined to completing objectives within those specific sections of the park. The foundation for a great trick-based biking game is here, but the way challenges are implemented holds back any sense of freedom and my overall enjoym

Speakeasy Simulator Review: What's the Secret Code? | The Gamerheads Podcast
Speakeasy Simulator was quite a fun game to play and review. I always enjoy a good simulator game and this truly hit the spot. While I did enjoy the randomness with all of the police spawns and trying to deliver more bottles to the mafia, I feel like there’s so much more that can be done to help take the game to the next level.

Perfect Tides: Station to Station Review - An Unforgettable Journey | The Gamerheads Podcast
When a story is told well, one that makes me laugh, cry, and even feel angry, then I know I’ve experienced a truly great piece of art. Perfect Tides: Station to Station is one of those games. Its raw storytelling, emotional highs and lows, and expressive animation come together to create a point-and-click adventure that’s hard to put down. There are only a handful of games that I find difficult to walk away from, and Perfect Tides: Station to Station is one of them.

Axis Football 2026 Review: 4th and Long | The Gamerheads Podcast
I want to see more competitors take on Madden because it pushes Madden to step up each year. While Axis Football 2026 includes some novel ideas, like an expanded franchise mode and an attempt to make the game feel more like a televised experience, it doesn’t do enough to fully pull it off. If developers want to go down that path, they need to execute and deliver a polished game. Otherwise, it becomes too easy to spot the issues when comparing it to Madden.

Jaleco Sports - Bases Loaded Review: Batter Up | The Gamerheads Podcast
Platform reviewed: Nintendo Switch 2 Also on: Nintendo Switch, PC (Steam) Price: $7.99 One game that holds a special place in my heart is Bases Loaded. While we had NES Baseball and RBI Baseball on the NES, Bases Loaded felt like a move toward a more realistic baseball game. The player models were less cartoony, the presentation felt more TV-inspired, and the fact that players would rush the mound after getting hit by a pitch made it feel like something new. As a kid, it fe

Flick Shot Rogues Review: Ready, Aim, Flick | The Gamerheads Podcast
Even with how difficult Flick Shot Rogues is, I had a really fun time with the game. After each run, I wanted to jump right back into the foray, hoping that the next attempt would be more fruitful or that I’d learn something from my previous run. The playing field can become crowded very quickly, which adds to the challenge, and the boss battles are pretty brutal. That said, pulling off a win feels great.

Warhammer 40k: Rogue Trader Switch 2 Review: Patch Work | The Gamerheads Podcast
Platform reviewed: Nintendo Switch 2 Also on: PC (Steam), PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S Price: $49.99 One of my favorite games is Fallout 2. The amount of choice it gave me as a player always really appealed to me. Warhammer 40k: Rogue Trader recaptures that same magic. The amount of meaningful decisions, the depth of its RPG systems, and the tactical combat all come together in a way that is incredibly satisfying to play. It is one of the best CRPGs I have played. Netherworld Covenant Review: Smart Combat System Carries the Experience | The Gamerheads Podcast
Platform reviewed: Steam (PC) Price: $19.99 Is Netherworld Covenant a roguelike soulslike or a soulslike roguelike? Either way, the game introduces some neat mechanics that I haven’t seen done in either genre. And for those concerned that roguelikes and soulslikes are typically extremely punishing, I’m happy to report that Netherworld Covenant, while challenging, doesn’t feel like it’s out to punish players. With a bit more polish, the game could have easily landed among my

GIGASWORD Review: Heavier Than it Looks | The Gamerheads Podcast
Platform reviewed: Steam Also on: PC (Steam), Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X/S Price: $14.99 GIGASWORD is a side scrolling 2D puzzle action metroidvania game where I played as Ezra, a thief in the city trying to survive, when the human population is on the brink of starvation. I was tasked with ascending the ancient tower in search of a crystal called Gnosis. Helping me was the Gigasword, the titular weapon of the game, a massive sword about the size o

Dark Quest 4 Review: Strong Ideas Undermined by Broken Balance | The Gamerheads Podcast
I really wanted to like Dark Quest 4, but it felt far too punishing for me to recommend to fans of tactical games or board games like HeroQuest. The progression feels grindy, and that grind sets in far too early to get much enjoyment out of the experience. Even the difficulty sliders, which should help ease that frustration, feel broken. Any adjustment I made was immediately offset by the game increasing how much damage enemies deal.

Aluna Rift Review: A Modern Twist on a Classic Game | The Gamerheads Podcast
I love Asteroids. One of my fondest memories is going to the local bowling alley as a kid and playing it in their small arcade, which was definitely a thing back in the day. I even ended up on their high score leaderboard and held a spot in the top five for quite some time. So when I saw Aluna Rift, a new arcade-inspired game that clearly takes cues from Asteroids, I was hoping it would capture that same nostalgic feeling for me.

Demonschool Review: Yeah, It's the Takedown | The Gamerheads Podcast
Ok, I couldn’t resist the KPop Demon Hunters reference when talking about Demonschool. Both are influenced by anime, both are about kicking demon butt, and both are fantastic in their own way. Demonschool blends everything I love about strategy games and JRPGs, but somehow makes all of it feel far more accessible without losing any of the challenge.

Kingdomino Digital Edition Review: A Faithful Adaptation to a Family Favorite | The Gamerheads Podcast
One of my family’s favorite board games is Kingdomino. It is easy to learn, mixes just enough strategy and luck, and most matches wrap up in under thirty minutes. When I saw it had finally made the jump to digital, I was pretty excited. I am happy to say it stays true to the physical board game and even adds a few smart features that make the experience feel fresh.

oneway.exe Review: A Mystery That’s More Work Than Play | The Gamerheads Podcast
Anyone who knows me, or has followed my work for a while, knows that I’m not a fan of horror games. That being said, oneway.exe caught my attention when I saw it at PAX East last year, and I really wanted to like it. Unfortunately, I struggled to connect with the experience. The puzzles often felt too abstract to make sense of, I couldn’t connect with the trio of in-game developers who the game revolves around, and I ran into some frustrating save-state issues along the way.
