DoDo Duckie title over a bright blue cartoon sky, with a duck under a UFO beam, floating islands, trees, and a mailbox.

I was initially drawn to Dodo Duckie because of the cute duck character. What I found was 20 minutes of platforming and discovering adorable animals like sleepy capybaras and frogs with sombreros. In the demo, it felt like the perfect mix of storytelling and actual gameplay.

Capybara and duck face each other in grassy plaza beside Capie's Cap Shop, with vine-covered stone wall and cartoon animal murals.

As I explored, I learned new skills as I discovered animal friends along the way. They taught me things like being able to quack as well as manipulating the world so that I could access new platforms. I enjoyed the fact that it felt like a tutorial, but also part of the journey since the animals would tend to elaborate on the skill I was learning about. The most unique part of this game was being able to change it from side scrolling to 3rd person view. It reminded me a little of Mario Wonder, with two levels existing at the same time.  Being able to switch views created a lot of depth when trying to solve the puzzles. For example, I had to strategically think about moving boxes in a 3rd person view and then placing an egg in the sidescrolling view to get a platform to raise. It created a lot of opportunities to discover new areas I wouldn't normally see that were hidden when in the sidescrolling view.

Dodo Duckie currently has a demo available and is set to release on Steam on July 23rd, 2026. If you're looking for a unique platforming game with tons of opportunities for discovery then this game may be for you!
