Running full speed making as much mess as you can…sign me up! Splatterbot puts you in the center of attention as you run around trying to make as much of a mess as possible. Channel your inner chaotic robot and run around like a headless chicken while you try to color the map in your own color.

Four Splatterbot selections: P1 white with tiger, P2 yellow, P3 pink with propeller, P4 blue with cap. Options for color, trail, costume.

Splatterbot is a party-style game which has a focal point on trying to create as much mess as possible. I played as a blue robot against the computer but the game does have the option to play local multiplayer against family or friends. I found the computer’s tracking a little more predictable, which would not be the case if you were to play against family or friends, especially since there is a team-based mode. The 2v2, team-based mode was frankly my favorite part of the game, where I played with one CPU against two computers.

Two boats are covered in colorful paint patterns; one has white and blue, the other yellow and pink. The number 92 is displayed above.

I ended up trying out all six of the game’s maps, with my favorite being the office. Crashing windows, breaking down doors, and grabbing every power-up I could, I found myself yelling at the top of my lungs as I raced to cover the map in my colors. The dynamic environments, combined with the random mix of power-ups (mini ball: a small rolling ball that paints everything in your color; splatter: a color-burst explosion at the spawn point; speed boost: a permanent speed increase; expand: enlarges your robot beyond your opponents), kept me on my toes. The thrill of beating my own high scores kept me coming back for more.

Final Grade: B+

Simplistic in nature, Splatterbot is super easy to pick up. It is primarily a party-style game meant to be played in a small group, but you can play solo if that is something that intrigues you more. While some of the maps were a little more chaotic and caused a bit more randomness, I quite enjoyed the challenge. If you are a fan of party-style games, consider adding Splatterbot to your list for your next party or group get together.
