I have been getting more into tabletop games in the past few years and I feel like the genre has exploded with new and creative games. This is what interested me when I saw that Sigilfarer was going to be at PAX East, as I wanted to see how a game that feels like a board game would carry over to the digital space.
Sigilfarer takes inspiration from RPG tabletop games where I used dice to gain different abilities for my team. I was able to use ones like block, attack or gain magic. Gain magic would let my wizard character use other spells like a full team block or a more substantial attack ability. I also had the option to reroll my dice as well to see if I could get some better options to help with the battle. The roguelike elements were there, as when I was finally defeated by a group of goblins my run was over. It does seem like I held onto some of the items I gained while going through the map and defeating enemies.

The map definitely plays into the isometric hexagonal spaces similar to the Civilization games. Something a bit different though is the map is procedurally generated as well so each run will be different, which I think will keep the replayability of the game fresh and interesting.
I used a caravan that held my party to move around the map where I could gain resources and other items from spaces that don’t have enemies on them. Some spaces would give me options to do certain checks like an empty camp where I could either cleanse the sigils in the area and lose some resources or look around the camp and possibly find some good loot.

The art style of the game reminded me of those polygonal paper crafting you get sometimes on the back of a cereal box, which I think works well with the tabletop aspect of the game.
I had a fun time playing Sigilfarer for the small amount of time I did get to play. The art style and game play was satisfying to interact with and I am definitely interested to see more of the game when it comes out sometime this year.
