I had the opportunity to experience the latest updates for Shovel Knight Dig and Mina the Hollower while I was in Seattle. These are two games I absolutely adore, and I was eager to dive into both games.
I got a sneak peek of Wicked Wishes, the upcoming DLC for Shovel Knight Dig. In this DLC, I discovered a whole new area: a guild where, apparently, the characters have been hanging out all this time. Here, I could take on new quests from the guild members. Now, let me let you in on a little secret—playing games in front of the developers is surprisingly nerve-wracking, and, let's just say, I died...a lot. I reached the first boss twice and was defeated both times, but on my third attempt, I finally beat it. And that was just the first level—beating the boss was necessary to access more of the new content. I have to admit, my palms were sweating, and I felt pretty embarrassed, especially since I know I'm usually much better at this game. But even though I didn't get to see as much as I'd have liked (thanks to all the dying), I’m excited to see Shovel Knight Dig getting more content.
As for Mina the Hollower, I got to play a whole new area. Now, here’s another little secret. At PAX East last year, I played Mina the Hollower and even managed to beat the first boss—I was very proud of myself. However, in Seattle, I somehow forgot how to play the game entirely. I died a lot, and it was quite embarrassing. But from what I got to see, the new levels look very promising, and I’m excited about what Mina the Hollower has to offer when it releases.
