Announced today by Hound Picked Games, the publisher behind Battle Princess Madelyn, the game will release on both the PS4 and Nintendo Switch on December 20th, 2018. The game will release on the Nintendo Switch on January 7th, 2019 in Europe and Australia; the PS4 version release date has yet to be announced for Europe and Australia.
Hound Picked Games had the following announcement in their press release:
After a number of abortive release dates, for both Nintendo Switch and PlayStation 4, we are happy to announce that the Switch version for North America has been sanctioned, along with a new patch ready for release this week on 20th December by Nintendo of America and PlayStation 4 North America by Sony.
The Switch EU/AUS version, along with a patch, has been sanction by Nintendo of Europe for release on 7th January 2019.
PlayStation 4 EU/AUS has yet to be confirmed.
Battle Princess Madelyn follows the adventures of a young female knight named Madelyn and her dog, Fritzy.
The origins of the game comes from when Creative Director Christopher Obritsch's daughter, Madelyn, wanted to be in Ghoul's and Ghosts. She said to her dad that only boys could be knights, not girls, to which Christopher answer, "Pshh, what color do you want the armor to be?" Her answer was pink. Thus began the creation of Battle Princess Madelyn.
According to Casual Bits Games website, the creators behind the game, the game will have the following features:
Fast paced classic arcade action and adventure elements of classic console games from the golden age of console gaming
Amazingly detailed hand drawn pixel art brought to life by the magical lighting of the Unity Engine
Collectibles hidden throughout the stages for extra rewards, and additional hidden stages!
10 levels, each of which include up to 5 stages – including 1 or 2 branching hidden stages!
Fully re-playable stages at any point – if you’ve unlocked it, you can play it as much as you want!
Ghostly dog companion: Fritzy, gains powers as you progress through the game
Original story written by a professional children’s author!
